LADIES ONLY SAILING HAS BEEN A BIG HIT THIS SUMMER! Due to popular demand, we
tested out a ladies only sailing program on Thursday afternoons and it was a big success overall.
Although the more
sociable "big boat" sailing on the Beaver and Sea Robin was the most popular, ladies also sailed Lasers and
420's which was great to see!
We would like to hear any comments from you on what you liked about the program
and any suggestions you may have to improve it.
I would expect that Ladies Only sailing will continues in 2008, so
check back for updates in future newsletters.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON FAMILY RACING ATTRACTS ALL AGES This Summer, the Wednesday
afternoon race series has continued to be popular with those of all ages. New rivalries have been born and many have
resurfaced after several years and are stronger than ever.
This has proven to be a great way for kids to race
either with or against their parents in a competitive but fun environment. We anticipate that this program will
continue for years to come. Thanks to all you racers who participated!

PLEASE SUPPORT THE CYC BOUTIQUE ONE LAST TIME ON AUGUST 23rd As you all know from the new
directories, "Cuttyhunk Energy" has been our theme this year so please make sure you stock up on the CYC Energy
2008 T Shirts and other gear before you leave the island. These shirts will sell out and will not be
reprinted.
Outgoing Boutique Manager Zoe Billman, Patty Frothingham, and incoming Boutique Manager Cathy Broderick
will be at the August party with our complete inventory, including two new styles of micro-fleece which is perfect for
those cool August nights, plus 3 colors of hats and other new sportswear styles.
Proceeds from Boutique sales help
greatly to defray program costs while keeping class fees affordable for Cuttyhunk families. Thanks for your support of
the CYC Boutique!

In closing,
this will be my last email newsletter to you our loyal membership as my two years as Commodore are complete. As you know,
the CYC is an all volunteer organization which, while maintaining its fine tradition of teaching sailing to children
between six and sixteen, benefits from having new leadership every two years. I hope you will join me in welcoming Alison
Granger as our your new Commodore for the next two years, along with Julie Mason as Vice-Commodore, and David Frothingham
as Rear Commodore.
I would also like to say thank you to Ben Ross and Scott Zolkos for all of their hard work the
past two years, as both of them will be moving on to new life opportunties. Thanks to Zoe Billman for her over four years
of service and countless hours organizing and running the CYC Boutique. And to all of you volunteers who faithfully showed
up for work weekends and decommissionings, we could not have done any of this without you! It has been a pleasure to serve
the CYC.
All the best,
Angus L. Garfield Outgoing Commodore Cuttyhunk Yacht Club "Our Spirits
